What are your ideas for getting off to a good start this year?
We’ve all had the occasional nothing-to-wear nightmare. Tearing through your closet in a sartorial panic– it’s your wedding day, prom night, interview morning — and everything you own is useless.
This season, get yourself some girl armor, the perfect little black dress. As usual, Target has your back with lots of great options for under $40.
Maybe you need two.

WoW! These are great! I always knew that Target had great everyday clothes and items, but didn’t know they would be the cure-all to finding the perfect-little-black dress too!
no fair! both dresses for which i was all ready to click “buy” are out of stock! very, very cute 3/4-length-sleeve dress–very late ’50s/early 60s. i love that aesthetic. and the last dress is a*dor*able. hope they come back in some time!
This is fantastic, Maggie. We ladies can never have too many little black dresses– especially for the holiday season! Thank you!
[...] lord, I love Target. I just did a post for them on all the affordable little black dresses they have on offer. A couple of them have sold out since [...]
out of 10 dresses, not one is in the plus size section? i guess anyone over a size 18 gets to be naked this time of year.
I was able to find several of those black dresses on the clearance rack at my local Target, and bought two! The tab waist and the neck pleat dress. Each were $17.98! You can’t go wrong! They look fabulous with long jackets and tall boots! Probably my best purchase so far this fall!
Great idea for a guide, every guy loves a lady in a cute black dress!
NOT fair!!—no Target in this area. ‘Gotta love those little black dresses, for any age; any occassion. It’s hard to find a simple, but stylish dress for a 50’s gal, not wanting to look 15 (nothing wrong with 15y.o., but I’ve been there & wore the tee!)
I wore the flocked strapless dress to a black-tie event in NYC and was asked several times “who i was wearing”….. No one believed that it was from TARGET!!!!!!
